Strength Poems

A Strong Person VS. A Person Of Strength

A strong person works out every day to keep their body in shape...
but a person of strength kneels in prayer to keep their soul in shape...

A strong person isn't afraid of anything...
but a person of strength shows courage in the midst of their fear...

A strong person won't let anyone get the best of them self...
but a person of strength gives the best of them self to everyone...

A strong person makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...
A person of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's
blessings and capitalizes on them...

A strong person walks sure footedly...
but a person of strength knows God will catch them when they fall...

A strong person wears the look of confidence on their face...
but a person of strength wears grace...

A strong person has faith that they are strong enough for their journey...
but a person of strength has faith that it is in the journey that
they will become strong...

Every Day

Every day I need you Lord
But this day especially,
I need some extra strength
To face what ever is to be.

This day more than any day
I need to feel you near,
To fortify my courage
And to overcome my fear.

By myself, I cannot meet
The challenge of the hour,
There are times when humans help,
But we need a higher power

To assist us bear what must be borne,
and so dear Lord, I pray -
Hold on to my trembling hand
And be near me today.

It Takes Strength

It takes strength to be firm

It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard.

It takes courage to let down your guard

It takes strength to conquer.

It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain.

It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in.

It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend's pain.

It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide your own pains.

It takes courage to show them.

It takes strength to endure abuse.

It takes courage to stop it.

It takes strength to stand alone.

It takes courage to lean on another.

It takes strength to love.

It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive.

It takes courage to live.

Just What I Need

God give me strength to do what I must
And to remember that it's You who I should trust

Let me be kind in my words today
Despite my pain, I'll have nice things to say

Show me Your wisdom found deep in You Word
Perhaps there's a message I have not yet heard

When I want to give up; keep me close to You
So I know you are with me no matter what I go through

Those times when I stumble and fall right on my face
Remind me it's because I stepped out of my place

You are my Healer and time is Your key
Someday soon there will be a miracle in me

Waiting on You God, is a step of faith and hope
But knowing You're faithful is just how I cope

This illness can't last forever, so in You I rest
Trusting always in the One who knows best

Learning To Lean

It took me forever, Lord, to learn how to lean.
To leave my friends, as you lovingly began to wean.
I know I was stubborn, and I dug in my heels,
And when you applied pressure, did I ever squeal.

It was a concept, Lord, that I just hadn't learned,
And obviously I was not too much concerned.
But as my old leaning-posts were taken away,
Routine confidence began rapidly to fray.

Then your Holy Spirit, made it abundantly clear,
To you alone, Lord, must I ultimately adhere.
Only in your word and Spirit, may I ever grow strong,
As you continue to teach me, a blessed new song.

It is not in friends and others, that I will understand.
All my strength and wisdom, must come to me firsthand.
No longer can another, walk me through the task,
For only in Your guidance, may I safely bask.

Keep on teaching me Lord, and keep me close to you.
For without you beside me, I haven't got a clue.
I belong to you Lord, I am your creation . . .
I want only to praise you, without cessation!

The Oak Tree

A mighty wind
Blew night and day
It stole the oak tree's leaves away

Then snapped its boughs
And pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark

But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around
The weary wind gave up and spoke
How can you still be standing Oak

The oak tree said, I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two
Carry every leaf away
Shake my limbs, and make me sway

But I have roots stretched in the earth
Growing stronger since my birth
You'll never touch them, for you see
They are the deepest part of me

Until today, I wasn't sure
Of just how much I could endure
But now I've found, with thanks to you
I'm stronger than I ever knew

The strength of a man isn't seen in the width of his shoulders.
It's seen in the width of his arms that circle you.

The strength of a man isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
It's in the gentle words he whispers.

The strength of a man isn't how many buddies he has.
It's how good a buddy he is with his kids.

The strength of a man isn't in how respected he is at work.
It's in how respected he is at home.

The strength of a man isn't in how hard he hits.
It's in how tender he touches.

The strength of a man isn't in the hair on his chest.
It's in his Heart... that lies within his chest.

The strength of a man isn't how many women he's loved.
It's in how he can be true to one woman.

The strength of a man isn't in the weight he can lift.
It's in the burdens he can carry.
