Friends Poems

A Friend is A Gift

Among the great and glorious gifts
our heavenly Father sends
Is the gift and understanding
that we find in loving friends.

For in this world of trouble
that is filled with anxious care
Everybody needs a friend
in whom they're free to share
The little secret heartaches
that lay heavy on their mind,
Not just a mere acquaintance
but someone who's just our kind.

For, somehow in this generous heart
of loving faithful friends
The good God in his charity
and wisdom always sends
A sense of understanding
and power of perception
and mixes these fine qualities
with kindness and affection.

So when we need some sympathy
or a friendly hand to touch,
or an ear that listens tenderly
and speaks words that mean so much,
We seek our true and trusted friend
in the knowledge that we'll find
A heart that's sympathetic
and an understanding mind...

And often without a word
there seems to be a union
of thoughts and kindred feelings
for God gives true friends communion.

A Friend Should Be Radical

A friend should be Radical,
Fanatical,
and Most of All,
Mathematical!!

A friend should be radical;
They should love you when you're unlovable,
Hug you when you're unhuggable,
And bear you when you're unbearable.

A friend should be fanatical;
They should cheer when the whole world boos,
Dance when you get good news,
And cry when you cry too.

But most of all,
a friend should be mathematical,
They should multiply the joy,
Divide the sorrow;

Subtract the past,
And add to tomorrow,
Calculate the need deep in your heart,
And always be bigger than the sum of all the parts.

Beauty Of Our Friendship

Friendship is a Priceless Gift
that cannot be bought or sold,

But its value is far greater
than a mountain made of Gold.

For gold is cold and lifeless,
it can neither see nor hear...

And in the time of trouble
It is powerless to cheer...

It has no ears to listen
Nor heart to understand,

It cannot bring you comfort
or reach out a helping hand.

So when you ask God for a gift
be thankful if HE sends...

Not diamonds, pearls or riches...
But The Love of Real True Friends.

Cherished Friends

God must have known there
would be times
We'd need a word
of cheer
Someone to praise
a triumph
Or brush away
a tear.

He must have known we'd
need to share
The joy of
"little things"
In order to
appreciate
The happiness
life brings.
I think He knew our
troubled hearts
Would sometimes
throb with pain
At trials and
misfortunes
Or some goals we
can't attain.

He knew we'd need
the comfort
Of an
understanding heart
To give us strength
and courage
To make a fresh,
new start.

He knew we'd need
companionship
Unselfish...lasting...true,
And so God answered the
heart's great need
With a

CHERISHED FRIEND ....like you.

Field of Joys

Sometimes along life's pathways - There will come along a Friend,
Who gets to know you inside-out right to the very end,
And depth and height and width, of all that makes you 'You'
And they continue liking you no matter what you do.

They get to see inside of you, where others dare not go.
And soon they are a part of you and, oh, you love them so.
They let you laugh. They share your joy.
They help you through the day.
And no matter what you've said or done.
They will not turn away.

Sometimes, when things are getting rough,
and when the crying's done,
They'll join with you in games and play -
Just like when you were young -
And had a special playmate who would run the Field of Joys,
That children find around the bend with girls or with boys.

They're honest. They are faithful. They try never to betray -
The precious trust between you - as you live from day to day.
It's so hard to describe them. And though it might sound odd.
My best way to describe them is - They are a gift from God.

And so, my Friend, I'm writing with a thankful heart to say -
I'm so glad I've a friend like you - You've helped me on my way.
So, thank you for just being there. And thank you for the toys.
But mostly - Thanks for running with me through the Field of Joys.

How many friends do you have?

Think about it....

The old man turned to me and asked
"How many friends have you?"
Why 10 or 20 Friends have I,
And named off just a few--
He rose quite slow with effort
And sadly shook his head
"A lucky child you are
To have so many friends," he said,
But think of what you're saying
There is so much you do not know
A friend is just not someone
to whom you say "Hello"

A friends a tender shoulder
on which to softly cry
A well to poor your troubles down
and raise your spirits high

A friend is a hand to pull you up
From darkness and despair...
when all your other "so called" friends
Have helped to put you there

A true friend is an ally
who can't be moved or bought
a voice to keep your name alive
when others have forgot

But most of all a friend is a heart
a strong and sturdy wall
for from the hearts of friends
There comes the greatest love of all
So think of what I've spoken
for every word is true

And answer once again my child
How many friends have you??
And then he stood and faced me
Awaiting my reply

Softly I answered
If Lucky......
One Have "I"
"YOU!!!!!"

Just So You Will Know

A few years ago I had a friend,
He always used to say,
"Tell people how and what you feel,
there might not be another day."

I did not listen I really thought,
I'll tell him I love him tomorrow.
Tomorrow did not come for us,
Only pain and sorrow.

I will not make that same mistake,
And here's what I will do.
I'll send this poem to all my friends,
And tell you I love you.

Best friend, close friend, friend at all,
You mean the world to me.
I thank you for the people you are,
And every memory.

I love the laughter and the tears,
Everything we share.
Thank you for being in my life,
The times that you were there.

I am sorry for any hurt I caused,
If I could I'd take it back.
I'd unlock the doors into the past
But it's that key I lack.

Please don't hold the past inside,
We can't go back and change.
Life has its laws and limits,
And the past is out of range.

Forgive, forget, it's easier,
For both you and the other one.
It closes open windows,
And leaves nothing left undone.

Don't be mad if I might change,
Everybody does.
We'll change forever while we're here,
And only just because.

You cannot change the ones you love,
Shape them to your way.
Please love me for who I am,
Each and everyday.

I hold onto our memories,
When we're gone they live.
Instead of tears and heartache,
It's happiness they give.

Sometimes in life, things get hard,
But it's all for the best.
Sit back and take it when it comes,
It's just a little test.

My friend, he told me that in these times
A lesson must be learned.
Don't fight the lesson, it might be hard,
be strong or you'll get burned.

Make someone smile everyday,
A smile means a lot.
Don't wish for things that you can't have,
Cherish what you've got.

Sometimes we can't have people,
Because of God or other reasons.
Remember there's a time for all,
Life has got its seasons.

Sometime life takes them away from us,
But here's what we must know.
You don't have to stop loving them,
You just have to let them go.

Listen to your heart,
Not always with your head.
Love isn't what we learn,
It's something felt instead.

You're all so special to me,
I love you upon no ends.
I love you just the way you are,
I treasure all my friends.

No matter how we are today,
Tomorrow if I go,
I am telling you I LOVE YOU,
Just so you will know.

Just To Inspire You

I know your secrets
and you know mine
When you need me,
I'll help you out anytime.

To see you hurt,
to see you cry,
Makes me weep
and want to die.

And if you agree
to never fight,
it wouldn't matter
who's wrong or right.

If a broken heart
needs a mend,
I'll be right there
until the end.

If your cheeks are wet
from drops of tears,
don't worry and
let go of your fears.

Hand in hand
love is sent,
we'll be friends
until the end.

True Friends

When you are sad,
I will dry your tears.
When you are scared,
I will comfort your fears.

When you are worried,
I will give you hope.
When you are confused,
I will help you cope.

And when you are lost
and can't see the light,
I shall be your beacon,
shining ever so bright.

This is my oath,
I pledge till the end.
Why you may ask,
because you're a friend.

In a friendship
We're free to expose,
Parts of ourselves
Nobody else knows.

The thing that sustains it,
And sets it apart,
Is not something spoken,
It's a bond of the heart.

True friends are rare,
In a lifetime two or three,
I'm so glad it happened,
Between you and me!
